Pictures Speak More Than Words

I've got a few pictures that I've been meaning to make into involved, interesting blog posts, but my brain doesn't want to oblige today. So, here are a few recent photos from my world.

Gwen scorning the effort I put into a jigsaw puzzle.

The table from mum's most recent tea party. (The cosmopolitan on the table is a fluke. I swear.)

A rainy walk with my mum.

My cat wondering when I'm going to stop doing stuff on my new laptop and pay attention to HER again!

B sleeping. I adore her fuzziness.

A picture from the Getty museum during my spring break trip. All in bloom.

A Begrudging, and Yet Lovely, Walk

This past Saturday, my parents and I enjoyed Utah's lovely nature by hiking Wheeler Canyon. It's up the road to Snow Basin, pretty close to home, a fairly leisurely stroll, and pretty damn gorgeous. I didn't have my camera with me, but hey, in this day and age, a cell phone is the next best thing.

There was a red leaf in the background of this one that Mum wanted me to catch with the purple berries, but it doesn't really come through in the photo. (Yes, the leaves are already turning color here. They don't turn in L.A. until January.)

This was much nicer to find in the trail than the huge piles of steaming horse poo we found before.

Tiggers may not like thistles to eat, but they're still rather lovely to look at.

And, yes, as we were walking and trading stories of our first encounters with hard liquor (Hey! That's my next post!), Mum told me of these miraculous walking sticks that exist out there that have flasks in the handles. Sweet, yes?

She's says if I decide to stick around, she'll buy me some. Now that's a mother's love.

Saturday Morning Tea

I was preparing my Saturday-morning, thank-God-I-got-to-sleep-in tea this past Saturday and I turned around from putting my bread in the toaster oven. I found the sun shining through my kitchen window onto my sugar bowl, (organic sugar from Trader Joe's). The way the light caught the handle of the spoon, the play of the shadows across the counter, caught my eye as few other things can after that much sleep.
