Bono in Your Face is a Good Thing

This past Tuesday, Agent J and Agent K (that's my friend Jennie and I) went all the way down to Jordan Commons to see U2 3D. My crazy friend Debbie saw it in L.A. and I've been trying to see it for a couple of years now. She got to go across the street and see it. Jennie and I drove for over an hour.

Now, being the obsessive person that I am, this seems perfectly normal. After all, Debbie and I took a day off work and spent the whole day in line to see U2 live at Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim on April 1, 2005. I missed a night of stage managing so I could go see these guys!

Anyway, U2 3D is a 3D Imax version of one of their concerts. I told my parents on Wednesday that it's like going to one of their concerts and sitting on the stage. It's loud and in your face and one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I can't remember the last time it only took $9.25 to make me so ridiculously happy for so long. Worth every penny!

I'm hoping to take my dear mummy back next month. I'm educating her musical tastes.

And, yes, I am a geek.

The Evolution of Dance

A friend at my new job showed this to me the other day. Apparently I'm the only person on the planet who knew nothing about it. I'm hoping I can share the joy with a few other people out there.

This guy's awesome.

Red is Fun!

What's so cool about red? Well...

It's the color of a Coke can and my Starbucks mug.

It's a cherry on the 4th of July.

It's a scarlet pimpernel and my tattoo.

Th garnets in the rings I wear everyday are red. "I'm Not Really a Waitress" is the best red fingernail polish in the world.

My pepper grinder is red, my lipstick is red, and today my dress is red.

The shattered Christmas ornaments in Loyal Women are red. We call them "mirth bombs."

Josie's cell phone is red. I'm a little jealous.

My mom had a beautiful red vase that the cat knocked off a shelf and broke.

Ladybugs are red, my hair is red, and my toenails are... well, my toenails are blue.

But, I have a red purse, a red scarf, and red gloves.

Red is bright, red is fun, red is everything we should want in our lives.

You Don't See This in L.A.

My dear mummy (who will be here tomorrow, by the way!) sent me these yesterday. (Thanks to her friend Dawn who took them...)

They made me feel nostalgic and a bit homesick. The leaves don't really change in L.A. Not like this anyway. And if they do change at all, it isn't until February.

I remember all the times I had to go trick-or-treating with a big-ass coat over my costume. Cleopatra in her parka wasn't quite the image I was hoping for.

And these? This is what mountains should look like. They call what we have in L.A. "mountains," but they're ever so wrong. Those are "hills." I believe these shots were taken in Sardine canyon, just outside of my home town. Now, none of these mountains can compare to Ben Lomond. Ben, as we affectionately call him, rests to the north of my home town and keeps an eye on us all. He looks ever so handsome when it snows on him. He was always the view out of my bedroom window growing up and he still brings me a sense of peace when I go home.

I'll have to take a picture of him, the next time I'm there. Or maybe I can ask mum to take one for me.

So, here's to leaf-peeping and Ben Lomond.

Saturday Morning Tea

I was preparing my Saturday-morning, thank-God-I-got-to-sleep-in tea this past Saturday and I turned around from putting my bread in the toaster oven. I found the sun shining through my kitchen window onto my sugar bowl, (organic sugar from Trader Joe's). The way the light caught the handle of the spoon, the play of the shadows across the counter, caught my eye as few other things can after that much sleep.

The Meeting of the Clans

As I mentioned a while back, my dear auntie is getting married soon. In fact, two weeks from this past Saturday. What am I most excited about? The tasty food, the drinking, the joining of two people I adore? Well, yeah... those things too, but I'm most excited about the meeting of my two worlds.

My Utah half has the familia. My Angeleno half has my auntie and Theatre Banshee. They've always been kept apart. Not by choice, but by chance. Occasionally, my parents or grandparents will come to visit, but with the impending nuptials comes my entire family. Aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, and grandparents - all of them. And virtually all of my theatre company will be there too.Even better is that the reception is at the theatre! Everyone I love most in the universe will be under the roof of the building I love most in the universe.

I'm afraid my heart might explode at the idea of having them all together, let alone the actual event itself. It might only be for two days, but for a brief, shining moment, I'll have the best of both worlds all in one room.
